Mangaluru: A private hospital here refused to deliver the baby of a pregnant woman after her COVID-19 test conducted by them reported positive. They agreed only after the intervention of MLA U T Khader.
The incident occurred on Sunday, July 5.
The pregnant woman was taken to a private hospital and when the hospital refused to admit her after her COVID-19 test reported positive, the family contacted MLA U T Khader.
Khader called the hospital and later the district administration to look into the issue. However, by that time the hospital administration decided to admit the pregnant woman.
At evening, the woman delivered a baby.
Khader later stated that the district administration should call a meeting of the governing bodies of all private hospitals as well as government hospitals in the district to form rules and protocols regarding pregnant COVID-19 cases.
