No Nag Panchami celebrations in public places in Udupi district: DC

Udupi: The district administration has prohibited all the public Nag Panchami celebration in the district due to increasing COVID-19 cases.
Speaking about the celebration, District’s Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha said, “As we are following state government’s order of no public celebratiions of religious festivals from past four months due to COVID-19, we have decided to to prohibit public celebrtations of Nag Panchami.”
“When people do pooja in public places, if one person has COVID-19 infection, there are chances of the virus spreading to everyone. Hence, please celebrate the festivals in your home itself. Do pooja at house ,” he added.
“People are spreading rumors on social media and one should not listen to such roumers. We will take strict action against people spreading fake news,” Jagadeesha said.
