Dist-level I-Day celebrations to be aired through social websites: DC

Mangaluru: Informing that the Independence day function, celebrated at the district level will be aired through social websites, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr K V Rajendra urged people to stay at home amid the pandemic situation.
Briefing about the preparations for the Independence Day celebrations this year, the DC informed that the district level program will be held at Nehru Maidan but since large gatherings are not permissible they have decided to beam the function through digital screen installed at a city junction apart from airing the function through social websites.
The DC informed that no cultural programs will be held this year considering the increasing cases of coronavirus in district.
Further, he urged people to follow all protocols – social distancing, use of face masks etc while celebrating Independence Day.
“On the occasion of Independence Day celebrations, the district administration plans to honour the Corona warriors,” he added.
Additional deputy commissioner Roopa M J, probationary IAS officer Mona, were among those present at the meeting.
