K’taka COVID-19 update: 7665 new cases; 8387 discharges; 139 deaths on Aug 17

Bengaluru: 7,665 new cases of COVID-19 were reported from across the State between the midnights of August 16 and 17.

In the same period, 8,387 people were discharged after recovering from the virus and 139 deaths occurred due to COVID-19.

The tallies in the State has now risen to 2,40,948 total cases of which 79,782 are active and 4,201 dead.

697 of the active cases are undergoing treatment in Intensive Care Units.

Bengaluru Urban district has again become the top contributor of COVID-19 cases in the State with 2,242 cases in the same period.

Other districts with high case numbers in the same period include Ballari (673), Udupi (421), Belagavi (395), Mysuru (357), Davanagere (332), Shivamogga (318), Dakshina Kannada, Dharwad (279) respectively, Kalaburagi (229), Gadag (186), Hassan (177), Bagalakote (171), Bengaluru Rural (123), Ramanagara (115) and Yadgiri (107).
