Researchers have developed an algorithm to detect tweets targeting women, including threats of harm or sexual violence.
According to News18, researchers from Queensland University of Technology (QUT) have developed a statistical model to help drum it out of the Twittersphere
The team mined a dataset of 1 million tweets then refined these by searching for those containing abusive words
They also worked on ensuring the algorithm could differentiate between abuse, sarcasm and friendly use of aggressive terminology.
QUT’s faculties of Science and Engineering and Law and the Digital Media Research Centre published their research on the digital science platform Springer on Friday, Aug 28.
