North Korea appears to have held a huge military parade early on Saturday. On the other hand, Korea watchers around the world are on the lookout for the “new strategic weapon” that Kim Jong Un had promised to unveil this year.
As reported by Al Jazeera, Thousands of people were seen on satellite images in mid-September assembling in formation at Pyongyang’s main square, spelling out phrases such as “Heroic Youth” and “100 Battles, 100 Victories”.
The October 10 event marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Workers Party and is one of the most important holidays in the closed-off country.
Specialist service NK News cited multiple sources saying they had heard sounds of aircraft flying by, drones and heavy machinery during the early hours of Saturday morning.
According to Indian Express, North Korea might have rolled out an intercontinental ballistic missile that features solid-fuel technology. Although North Korea hasn’t fired off an ICBM since November 2017, it conducted a long-burn test of a new engine and debuted an assortment of shorter-range, solid-fueled rockets last year.
A few experts claim that an advanced Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) might have been launched and suggested North Korea is preparing to test the underwater weapon, pointing to satellite images showing a flurry of activity at the Sinpo South Shipyard, a place where it builds submarines.
