Gold medal-winning Mangaluru swimmer to attempt national record on Dec 18

Mangaluru: Nagraj Kharvi Kanchugodu, a teacher and national-level swimmer will be attempting a unique swimming feat on December 18 at the Tannirbhavi beach here to enter the India Book of Records.
Kanchugodu, who teaches at the Government Higher Primary School at Kalmanja in Bantwal taluk, will be swimming breaststroke for 1 kilometre into the Arabian Sea in the Padmasana position with his legs tied in chains.
Kanchugodu has already won many medals in swimming tournaments across the country including winning two gold medals in an event at Gujarat’s Vadodara in January last year.
