Bengaluru: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa expressed his deep concern over the death of several workers in an explosion at a stone quarry near Hunasodu in Shivamogga district and has ordered a high-level probe into the incident.
The chief minister tweeted that he was shocked by the unfortunate incident from last night and he has been in contact with senior officials since late night. Teams have already been dispatched to conduct rescue operations.
“I wish to express my deepest condolences to the family of the deceased. The wounded are being treated and I wish them all a speedy recovery. A high-level probe into the incident has been ordered and strict action will be taken against the culprits,” Yediyurappa further said.
Eight workers from Bihar were killed when a lorry-filled with gelatin sticks exploded near a quarry at around 10.20 pm on Thursday. The workers’ bodies were blown to pieces in the explosion.
