Bengaluru: The state government on Thursday issued a revised Standard Operating Procedure after allowing 100% occupancy in theatres.

Earlier the occupancy in theatres had been capped at 50 percent as a precautionary measure but following representations from the Kannada film industry it has allowed 100% occupancy in theatres for four weeks.

As per the revised Standard Operating Procedure, that was framed based on the recommendations of the 71st Covid-19 Technical Advisory Committee, movies will now have two intermissions instead of one to enable greater ventilation and reduce exposure in closed cinema halls and

In order to enable contact tracing and testing for Covid-19, the protocol also includes collecting names and mobile numbers of moviegoers.

Apart from the above-mentioned protocols, the guidelines also include wearing masks at all times and the theatres must strictly comply with the CPWD (Central Public Works Department) guidelines on air-conditioning and the dos and don’ts on Covid-19 precautions must be displayed in the movie halls.
