New Delhi: Union Minister State for Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions Jitendra Singh said on Friday that lithium deposits have been detected under the ground in the Marlagalla–Allapatna area in Mandya district.

The minister stated this in a written reply to a question by Tumkur MP GS Basavaraj.

Singh stated in the reply that in preliminary surveys by the Atomic Minerals Directorate for Exploration and Research, an entity under the Department of Atomic Energy, has shown more than 1,500 tonnes of lithium deposits in the district.
