10-year-old dies after drowning in Kadri temple pond

Mangaluru: A 10-year-old boy who suffered severe injuries after drowning in Kadri temple pond died on Monday, January 6.

The deceased has been identified as Sandesh, resident of Athani taluk.

As per sources, Sandesh drowned while taking a dip in a pond at Kadri Shree Manjunatha Temple on Sunday, January 5 evening. He was immediatly rushed to the hospital in the city, however, he died on Monday moring after he stopped responding to the treatment.

Sandesh along with 60 other students and 5 teachers had come to Mangaluru to attend Sainik School Entrance Exam which was had hed at Canara High School on Sunday.

Sandesh’s father Shripathi Shinde, who is serving as an officer in Indian Army wanted his son to enrol in a military school, informed sources.
