Bantwal: An 11-year-old girl from Ananthady village in the taluk died of asphyxiation after she got entangled in the saree swing she was playing on.

The deceased girl is Likitha, daughter of Shekar, a resident of Bantranja. She was a class six student.

On the day of the incident, Likitha had skipped school and stayed back at home. She began to play on the swing when her father Shekar had gone out of the house with his wife Chandravathi.

It is gathered that, while playing, she lost control and got entangled in the rope.

When Chandravathi returned she saw her daughter hanging from the saree and released the girl from the knot along with the help of her neighbors. However, Likitha was already dead.
