44-year-old man drowns near Maravoor dam

Mangaluru: In a tragic incident, a man drowned in a pond near Maravoor Dam on Tuesday, March 17.

The deceased has been identified as Prashanth Shetty, a resident of Kavoor Bolpugudde. The incident took place when he had gone for a swim with his friends.

Reportedly, Prashanth along with his friend had gone Mangala swimming pool for a swim, as the pool was closed as due to Coronavirus lockdown. However, then they decided to go for a swim at a pond near Maravoor dam, where he drowned.

Prashanth is survived by his mother, wife and two daughters.

A case in this regard has been registered with the Bajpe police.
