Actor-director Rishab Shetty adopts alma mater – A Kannada medium school in Keradi, Kundapura

Kundapura: Renowned actor and director Rishab Shetty, acclaimed for his contributions to the Kannada film industry, has taken a significant step toward education reform by adopting his alma mater – the Government Higher Primary School, Keradi – a Kannada medium school in Byndoor taluk.
The school, where Shetty received his primary education, has now been secured by the fRishab Foundation supported by the actor for the upcoming five years. This decision follows Rishab Shetty’s commitment to the complete development of the institution through the Rishab Foundation.
This move is aimed at preserving and enhancing the essence of Kannada schools, aligning with the foundation’s broader objectives, he said.
Amidst his filming commitments for the prequel to the Kantara movie in Keradi, Rishab Shetty paid a visit to the school on Sunday. Beyond merely revisiting his past, Shetty engaged in comprehensive discussions about the future trajectory of the school, emphasizing plans for its holistic development through the foundation.
Interacting with the students and faculty, Shetty not only reminisced about his time at the school but also announced his dedicated commitment to fostering its growth.
Presently, the school has 71 students, managed by one permanent teacher. Other teachers work on a temporary contract basis.
Rishab Shetty said his vision extends beyond mere infrastructure development; discussions encompassed provisions for classrooms, teacher allocations, boundary maintenance, and even transportation arrangements. Moreover, Shetty also revealed his plans to initiate LKG–UKG and English learning programs.
Education Officer Nagesh Naik, commended Rishab Shetty’s proactive stance in reviving Kannada schools. He assured full cooperation and support from the education department towards this noble initiative.
Rishab said he has a personal commitment to revive Kannada schools that face closure or stagnation. This move resonates deeply with the Rishab Foundation’s core mission of safeguarding and nurturing Kannada education, he said.
