Agumbe Ghat road: DC withdraws temporary ban notification; Highway to open for heavy vehicles

Shivamogga: The Agumbe Ghat road will be thrown open for heavy vehicles. Shivamogga Deputy Commissioner Dr. R Selvamani has withdrawn the order banning heavy vehicular traffic on the Agumbe Ghat section of the National Highway 169A till September 15.

The heavy vehicle ban was imposed after noticing cracks and sporadic road collapse on turns number 6, 7, and 11 following heavy rains in the Agumbe Ghat area. Only ligh t motor vehicles were allowed to ply on the hilly section of the road.

The decision to withdraw the ban comes after repeated requests by the public and elected representatives.
