Jayaprakash Hegde, the Congress candidate for the Chikkamagaluru-Udupi constituency, reaffirmed his commitment to addressing the concerns of the people in the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru district.

Addressing a gathering in Koteshwar, Hegde emphasized the role of elected representatives in solving the problems faced by the public, stating, “It is the duty of people’s representatives to solve people’s problems. It is not appropriate to treat it as a service.”

Hegde, who previously served as a Lok Sabha member for two years, expressed readiness to respond to the problems of everyone in the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru district this time. He assured the constituents of his dedication and asked for the opportunity to serve them.

During the meeting, Hegde also raised questions about the promises made by the central government, particularly regarding job creation. He highlighted the unfulfilled pledge of providing employment to two crore people annually.

Hegde remarked, “Among the various assurances, the central government promised to deposit Rs 15 lakh to everyone’s account, but did it happen? Also, what happened to the promise of providing employment to 2 crore people a year?”

“State government’s Yuvanidhi scheme has been reaching out to the people step by step. The guarantee schemes, which serve as a lifeline for the poor, have been successfully implemented,” Hegde said.

Hegde further touted his achievements during his previous tenure as a member of the Lok Sabha, citing the successful resolution of issues such as the construction of the Koteshwar flyover and the demands of Karavali fishermen. He expressed confidence in his efforts to address the needs of the common people within a two-year period.

Various Congress leaders and supporters attended the event, including KPCC spokesperson Niketraj Maurya, who praised Hegde’s developmental initiatives during his previous tenure. Former MLA BM Sukumar Shetty criticized the BJP for its empty promises and urged voters not to be deceived.

Meanwhile, KPCC Working President and MLC Manjunath Bhandari predicted that Congress would secure more than 25 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Sudhir Kumar Maroli, another KPCC spokesperson, questioned the BJP’s track record in Kundapur over the past decade, highlighting Hegde’s effectiveness as a leader.

Former MLA Gopal Poojary, Kundapur Block Congress President Hariprasad Shetty, KPCC Secretary M.A. Ghafoor, Mahila Congress President Devaki Sunaiah, Youth Congress President Nishchitarth Shetty, Former President Maladi Shivaram Shetty, KPCC Member Navin Chandra Shetty, DCC Cadres Satish Kini Belve, Sadananda Shetty Keduru, Surendra Shetty Ankadakatte, Prasanna Kumar Shetty Keradi, Ashoka Poojary Beijadi, Devananda Shetty, Mustaq Ahmed, Harianna, Prakashchandra Shetty were present.
