Anand Mahindra buys home-cum-workspace for ‘Idli Amma’

Kamalathal, or ‘Idli Amma’, is an 80-year-old lady from Coimbatore who made news after industrialist Anand Mahindra shared a video of her on Twitter.

In the video, which garnered over 600K views, the industrialist had praised the enterprising lady for her efforts to serve the needy at an affordable price. ‘Idli Amma’ makes idlis by hand and sells them for a mere price of Re. 1.

One of those humbling stories that make you wonder if everything you do is even a fraction as impactful as the work of people like Kamalathal. Anand Mahindra also offered to buy her an LPG-fuelled stove, as he observed that she was using the traditional wood-burning stove.

Following which the Bharat Gas Coimbatore then stepped forward and issued a gas connection in her name.

Anand Mahindra went a step ahead and arranged a home and workshop for her.

He further added about registering a plot of land in her name and thanked the Registration Office at Thondamuthur for helping in the speedy registration.

He informed that the Mahindra Lifespaces team would be starting the construction soon as per Idli Amma’s requirements.
