Belagavi: In the backdrop of the calls given by various Kannada organizations to storm the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi to condemn the incidents of insult to Kannada symbols and historic figures, the police have tightened security along the National Highway and entire Belagavi city on Monday.

The activists of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike from the Narayanagowda factions and Praveen Shetty faction have left for Belagavi from Bengaluru.

Police have deployed personnel to prevent the activists from entering the city and worsening the already tense situation. Roadblocks have been put up at the Hirebagevadi toll gate and every vehicle entering the Belagavi city is being inspected.

Reports said more than 3,000 police personnel have been deployed for security in view of the incidents that have infuriated the Kannadigas. Step to prevent any untoward incident, sources said.
