Bantwal: Passenger lives risked as buses try to overtake each other; FIR filed

Bantwal: Passengers onboard two privates buses had a lucky escape after reckless driving by the bus drivers resulted in a minor accident on Vittal-Salethur road on Friday, March 11.

The bus drivers were attempting to overtake each other and in doing so they threw all caution in the air by risking passengers’ lives as well as posing threat to other motorists. The mishap occurred when one of the bus drivers collided with the other bus while overtaking it from the rear. Both the buses were damaged in the incident, luckily the passengers escaped unhurt. Traffic on the stretch was affected as the buses got stranded in the middle of the road.

Angered by this incident, the public has demanded strict action against the erring buses’ staff and owners.

Vittal police have lodged a case of reckless and negligent driving.
