Bantwal: Speeding tipper lorry mows down two youngsters to death

‎Bantwal:‎‎ In a tragic incident, two youngsters on a bike were killed on the spot after being hit by a lorry at Sornadu near Siddakatte on the evening of Tuesday, June 14.‎

‎The deceased have been identified as Nitin and Shashiraj, residents of Loretto Kamalkatte.

Eyewitnesses said that rash and negligent driving by the tipper lorry driver caused the accident. At the time of the accident, the tipper was speeding towards Karkala from BC Road. When it reached Siddakatte, the lorry collided head-on with the bike, killing both riders on the spot. The bike was wrecked beyond recognition.‎

After causing the accident, the man behind the wheels of the lorry did not stop it and tried to escape from the spot. However, some locals gave chase and stopped the lorry near Kudkoli near Siddakatte.

Meanwhile, Melkar Traffic polcie SI Murthy visited the accident spot and registered a case.
