Bengaluru: The Karnataka government on Thursday transferred Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner N. Manjunatha Prasad on the Election Commission’s direction.
An official statement said “State Agriculture Secretary M. Maheshwar Rao is transferred with immediate effect as Commissioner of the BBMP on the direction of the EC,”
The request from the state Personnel Department, notwithstanding, did not specify Prasad’s new posting.
As per the statement, Rao was coordinated to assume control over his new post instantly “without availing joining time” and outfitting consistence to the state government and office of the Chief Electoral Officer.
Prasad’s continuation as commissioner of the city company ended up untenable after the resistance BJP and Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) had whined against him for purportedly helping the Congress and its candidate in electioneering.
Of the 224 constituencies across the state, Bengaluru has the highest number of them at 28.
