Belagavi: Police raid houses of rowdy sheeters

Belagavi police personnel conducted surprise raids at the houses of nearly 26 rowdy sheeters in the city during the wee hours of Wednesday.

The operation was led by DCP Ravindra Gadadi. As many as 150 police personnel simultaneously raided houses of 26 rowdy sheeters including Sridhar S Talavara (29), resident of Rukmini Nagar, Vinaya Shankara (45) of Mahadachar Road, and Altaf Subedar (36) of Khanjar Galli at around 5 am today.

They confiscated lethal weapons like swords, knives, and sickles from their residences among other things.

The police said that these rowdy sheeters had been disrupting the law and order situation in the city and were terrorizing at times even assaulting the people.
