Bengaluru police raid Central prison, houses of rowdies

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru police conducted extensive raids at houses of more than 800 rowdies in the city’s West Division.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) West Dr Sanjeev M Patil said on Saturday that more than 400 people have been detained during the raids.
He further said that the raids are being conducted in the Kamakshipalya and Byadarahalli areas of the city. The raids and questioning will be continued till afternoon.
Earlier today, Bengaluru CCB raided Parapanna Agrahara Jail along with the dog squad. Mobile phones, ganja, knives, cigarette, memory card, sim cards were seized.
The CCB sleuths have got more than 40 lethal weapons including daggers, knives, scissors from the inmates in the prison. It is said the inmates found with lethal weapons will be questioned in detail.
Also, officials are verifying the role of the prison authorities in allowing rowdies to have weapons and mobile phones.
