Biggest single-day spike of 183 Covid-19 cases in DK

Mangaluru: With 183 new coronavirus cases, Dakshina Kannada reported the biggest single-day spike on Wednesday, July 8. The tally of positive cases in the district surged to 1,542 with today’s cases.
Presently Dakshina Kannada has 819 active cases while 695 patients have been discharged after treatment. The district death toll stands at 28, including 4 from other districts.
Out of the 22,181 samples sent for testing till date 20,153 has turned negative for the virus.
Among new cases today 65 are primary and secondary contacts of earlier infected persons, 25 with Influenza like Illness and 4 cases of SARI, 3 persons with intrastate and inter state travel history and 5 international travelers. 22 persons were found positive during random testing and 5 during pre-surgery samples. Contact tracing is on for 54 persons.
