Bengaluru: Amid the ongoing tussle for the post of KPCC chief among party leaders, Congress leader, and Kanakapura MLA DK Shivakumar on Thursday said that the party will not succumb to blackmailing tactics of anyone, including himself.

Speaking to reporters here, he said that topi (cap – referring to the position held by a person) can change heads within five minutes in the party. “No one can survive in the party with their coercive tactics. Only those working with discipline for the party will garner praise and respect and not those who put conditions ahead,” said the Vokkaliga leader, who is seen as a frontrunner for the KPCC president post.

His remarks comes in the backdrop of the supposed opposition from within party leaders on Shivakumar’s elevation to the State Congress chief post.

Meanwhile, Shivakumar claimed to have no knowledge when the KPCC president elections will be held.

Condemning Karnataka government’s decision to withdraw the compensation money for the families of the two persons killed in the Mangaluru police firing, Shivakumar alleged that C.M. Yediyurappa was acting on instructions from Delhi.
