B’luru: Newly-hired housemaid steals jewelry from employer’s house; arrested

Bengaluru: A newly-hired housemaid allegedly stole gold jewelry from her employer’s house and has landed in police custody.
The maid, identified as Chandrakala (46), had been employed by Thouseef Ahmed, a software engineer living in Shakthi Garden Layout, Sanjeevini Nagar, near Moodalapalya only 15 days earlier, a DHNS report said.
The report further said that Chandrakala allegedly stole jewelry including several gold chains, and rings from Ahmed’s house when the family was hosting a function on February 26.
Ahmed’s wife later found that the jewelry was missing from the cupboard. The family, suspecting the maid’s involvement in the crime, later filed a complaint with the police.
During the interrogation, Chndrakala confessed to the crime. Police later recovered the stolen jewelry wrapped in a cloth napkin from her house in Sanjeevini Nagar, the report added.
