Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Kota Srinivas Poojary on Friday said that to hide the failure of the Janaspandana program of the government at the taluk and district levels, CM Siddaramaiah is conducting Janapsandana programs at the Vidhana Soudha.
While Prime Minister Modi emphasizes nation-building, the Congress is fueling divisive discourse, he added.
Addressing reporters at a press conference, Kota criticized the state government for its perceived inability to address the drought situation. He alleged that a staggering amount of 11,000 crores designated for scheduled castes and tribes had been misappropriated. He further lambasted the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister are trying to distract the public from these issues.
The financial disparity between the periods of 2004-2014 and 2014-2024 was highlighted, with an inflow of 2.87 lakh crores during the latter period, marking a threefold increase. Poojary accused the state Congress government of irresponsibly antagonizing the central government without valid grounds. The state is undergoing financial bankruptcy and there is widespread discontent among the people, particularly those dependent on government aid programs like Grilahakshmi and Yuva Nidhi, he said.
Further Kota said that the failure to disburse even a single rupee in subsidies to the state’s 17,000 milk producers’ associations exemplifies the government’s incompetence. He also questioned the administration’s strategy for managing the drought crisis, criticizing their shift in focus from the Mekedatu project to seeking assistance from the central government. Poojary further said that the the government must present statistics in the next legislative session and if failed he demanded the resignations of the Ministers.
