Chikkamagalur: Viral video sparks dress code debate; Hijab issue rekindled at IDSG govt college

A year after a hijab-related controversy captured statewide attention, the issue has once again taken center stage in the region, specifically within the confines of IDSG Government College.

A recently surfaced video depicting female students adorned in hijabs within a classroom has rapidly gained viral traction.

In response to the video, the college’s board of management has enacted a decisive mandate, stipulating the compulsory nature of uniforms for all attendees.

Further details indicate that the college administration has instituted a six-day-per-week uniform requirement, with severe repercussions for those who opt not to adhere. Non-compliant students now find themselves barred from accessing the college premises altogether.
