Chitradurga: A speeding truck ran over a herd of sheep, killing 70 of them as well as the shepherd near Kanive of Holalkere taluk on Thursday, December 16, night.
The deceased has been identified as Moodalappa (47), a resident of Benakanahalli village of Hiriyur taluk.
The mishap took place after the driver lost control of the vehicle. Police said that the driver fled from the accident spot after the incident.
A case has been registered.
