Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is unhappy with this year’s union budget. He termed the union budget as visionless, directionless and non-growth oriented.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Siddaramaiah said that he had a high expectation from the budget on farm loan waiver. He also added that Finance minister Arun Jaitley has disappointed the people of Karnataka as there is nothing exclusive for them.

According to the chief minister, the budget has made announcements like health insurance scheme but it is not done with any budgetary allocation for the same. A similar scheme was announced last year but has not implemented it yet and the one announced in the budget too is unlikely to be implemented as they have failed to make any allocations.

He also added that the budget is all about slogans. They only announce all the measures to help farmers but in reality they do not implement anything. Minimum Support Price (MSP) provided to procure food grains from farmers too is not up to farmers expectations. For tur procurement, the Centre gives Rs.5,400 per quintal when farmers asked for Rs.6,500. The state government is adding another Rs 600 and is procuring tur at Rs 6,000 per quintal.

He said the budget has failed to address the issue of unemployment as they have not taken any measures to generate employment for the youths of the nation.
