Bengaluru: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Tuesday launched a relief package for artists hard-hit by the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Under the package, Rs 3,000 financial assistance will be provided to each artist.

More than twenty thousand artists will benefit from this package, costing Rs 6.23 crores, which will be transferred to them through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

“Artists were also assisted during the first wave of the pandemic. This time too the government has come to their aid. Applications for the financial assistance can be submitted through the Seva Sindhu portal. After checking the records of the artists, assistance will be granted in the most transparent manner,” the chief minister said during the announcement of the package.

“All artists must take all stipulated precautionary measures and take the vaccine provided free of charge,” Yediyurappa added.
