Container with 800 kg beef seized, one held

Puttur: The Uppinangady police arrested a person and confiscated 800 kg beef as well as the container vehicle which was transporting a large quantity of beef illegally.
The lorry driver, identified as Rizwan from Bandar, was taken into custody and is being questioned.
As per the sources, the Uppinangady police after learning that large quantity of beef was beeing illegally transported, undertook operation near Gundia in Shiradi village and intercepted a container and confiscated 800 kg beef as well as the container vehicle.
Reportedly, Rizwan, who was taken into custody informed the police that he was carrying beef that was prepared at the illegal slaughterhouse located at Chennarayanapatna and that the stock was meant for being delivered to Zulfikar at Mangaluru.
A case in this regard has been registered with the Uppinangady police and investigation is on.
