Covid Vaccination drive: 1.5 lakh students to be inoculated in DK & Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi: The Covid-19 vaccination drive for children between the ages of 15 and 18 would begin in the twin districts from today. The drive that ends on January 10 aims to vaccinate 1,01,549 children in Dakshina Kannada and 53,555 in Udupi.

PDOs have been entrusted the responsibility of tracing the children who have discontinued schooling. the health department has made arrangements to vaccinate such children at the nearest Primary Healthcare Center (PHC).

The Health Department has collected the details about the number of students who have attained 15 years of age in schools and colleges in the districts. On Monday, personnel from the PHCs will visit the schools and colleges to administer the first dose, District Health and Family Welfare officer Dr. Kishore Kumar said.

Children who were born in 2007 and prior to that will be vaccinated with Covaxin, he added.
