Bengaluru: JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda has made it clear that he won’t challenge the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. When asked the reason for this decision he said, “I don’t wish to go to Parliament in a wheelchair,” he commented.

He said that he would counsel his party leaders and finalize the candidates according to their seniority. He included that if a senior leader does not wish to contest then he would wish to handle his grandson Prajwal in the Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking to the media Gowda said “Prajwal is an educated individual, yet somewhat hasty. If anyone else wants to contest they are most welcome. Else, Prajwal will contest,” Gowda said adding that he was focused on bring a party other than Congress or BJP to power in the state, in the upcoming Assembly polls.

He also added that he will visit the state without any rest till the election dates.

The JD(S) party has a lack of funds, but not lack of confidence. I needn’t get lessons about social justice from others. I too have served the people of the state.

I am not annoyed of members quitting JD(S). I am not desperate to make my son Kumaraswamy the Chief Minister of the state, but the general public of the state are, Gowda stated.
