DK dist admin seals down 18 GPs to contain virus spread in rural areas

Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada district administration has sealed down 18 gram panchayats till June 21 that have more than 50 COVID-19 cases in order to break the chain of the virus spread.

2 gram panchayats in Mangaluru and Kadaba taluk, 8 gram panchayats in Belathangady taluk, 5 gram panchayats in Sullia taluk and 1 gram panchayat in Bantwal taluk have been sealed down.

This localised lockdown system was initiated by the Udupi district administration and was successful in containing the spread of the virus in the district.

Gram panchayats that have been sealed down are:

Naravi
Koiuru
Mittabagilu
Maladi
Neriya
Laaila
Ujire
Charmade
Ivarnadu
Amara Mutnur
Kolla Mogaru
Guttigaru
Arantodu
Subrahmanya
Savanur
Chenniatodu
