Dry fruit prices dip on subdued demand, increased supply

Dryfruits: Almond and walnut prices declined at the wholesale dry fruits market in the national capital during the week as demand from retailers and stockists receded.

Moreover, sufficient stocks following increased arrivals from producing belts also put pressure on the prices, marketmen said. Lower advices from overseas markets also dampened the trading sentiment to some extent, they said.

Almond (California) prices drifted lower by Rs 100 to Rs 18,900-19,100 per 40 kg and its kernel rates also slipped by Rs 10 to end at Rs 670-680 per kg. Almond gurbandi and girdhi declined by Rs 200 each to conclude at Rs 12,100-12,600 and Rs 5,100-5,300 per 40 kg.

Cashew kernel (No 180, 210, 240 and 230) prices were down by Rs 10 each per kg to conclude at Rs 1,075-1,080, Rs 970-980, Rs 870-880 and Rs 750-770 and its broken (2, 4 and 8 pieces) also eased Rs 5 each to finish at Rs 700-775, Rs 625-725 and Rs 555-650 per kg, respectively.

Chilgoza-roasted fell Rs 100 to end at Rs 2,200-2,300 per kg. Copra drifted lower at Rs 17,800-21,800 against previous week’s close of Rs 18,000-22,000 per quintal. Dry dates-red declined by Rs 100 to conclude at Rs 3,400-12,400 per quintal.

Coconut powder fell Rs 100 to finish at Rs 5,200-5,900 per 25 kg. Kishmish Indian yellow and green eased by Rs 200 each to finish at Rs 6,600-6,800 and Rs 8,300-11,800 per 40 kg bag.

Pistachio hairati and peshawari traded Rs 20 lower at Rs 1,500-1,550 and Rs 1,700-1,720 per kg. Walnut and its kernel prices also fell by Rs 10 each to end at Rs 290-390 and Rs 590-990 per kg.
