ED Arrests 2 Immigration Officials with 3 kg Gold for Smuggling Gold in Bengaluru Airport

Bengaluru: Revenue Intelligence of Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested two immigration officers on alleged Gold smuggling case at Kempe Gowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru on Sunday morning. The arrested officials have been identified as Praveen Kumar and PD Kathkar, both were working with immigration department of KIA.

On an information received, the ED officials arrived at KIA were awaiting a passenger. The Malaysian passenger arrived at the airport and moved to the toilet. After some time, another person also entered into the same toilet room. On suspicion, the ED officials entered into the toilet and took 3 kilogram gold into their custody along with the accused Kathkar and the Malaysian passenger. Malaysian passengers Arjun Velu and Shanthi Narayanan arrived at KIA by a Malaysian flight from Malaysia on Sunday morning. Arjun Velu arrested when he tried to hand over the gold to the KIA official.
