Bengaluru: An elderly man was beaten to death by three drunk men in the city.

The deceased has been identified as Ram (63) from Shivamogga district.

It has been reported that Ram who wanted to park his vehicle at Dr Rajkumar road was caught in a fight with three men, who were intoxicated. The three beat him up to death.

The accused are Karthik (34), Rajshekar (28), and Janardhan (34).

“On Thursday around 9.30 pm, Ram had come to park the Tate Ace luggage vehicle near the Popular Tyres shop on Dr Rajkumar Road. Ram works as a driver for the vehicle owned by one Suresh Babu. After his day’s work, Ram came near his regular place to park the vehicle. The three accused were at the spot and were in an inebriated state. Ram asked them to give space so that he could park the vehicle. Karthik refused to give space, so Sri Ram started arguing with the trio. As the argument beacame heated, Karthik is alleged to have hit the driver. Ram is alleged to have then brought a spanner from his vehicle and struck Karthik on his head with it,” said an officer.

Seeing Karthik bleeding, his two friends started beating the victim. They repeatedly punched Ram on his chest and kicked him too. Locals intervened to separate the victim and the accused and they took Ram to KC General Hospital. “The victim is said to have died en route to the hospital. Karthik, who had a deep cut on his head after being hit by Ram, got four stitches to his wound. As Karthik had to go to Shivamogga, the other two had come near Navarang theatre to drop him,” said the officer.

“The three have claimed that they were unaware of having beaten Ram. They were severely drunk and were out of control,” the officer added.
