London: Actor Emma Watson has set up a legal advice helpline for women facing sexual harassment at work.
The “Harry Potter” star, a prominent Time’s Up activist, said she was surprised that the helpline was the first service of its kind in England and Wales, reported the Guardian.
“Understanding what your rights are, how you can assert them and the choices you have if you’ve experienced harassment is such a vital part of creating safe workplaces for everyone, and this advice line is such a huge development in ensuring that all women are supported, wherever we work, Watson said.
The aim of the helpline, which is funded by donations from public, including Watson, is to help women get the right legal help when facing workplace harassment.
The hotline is backed by Time’s Up UK’s justice and equality fund, and managed by Rosa, the UK Fund for Women and Girls. Advice is provided by the charity Rights of Women.
