Gangavathi: Amid the COVID-19 scare, the Karnataka government had promoted PU students without exams. Physical classes for all the students were canceled last year and learning continued online.
Towards the end of 2020 and in early 2021, most of the colleges had reopened especially for board exam students. However, the school was then closed again, as the number of coronavirus cases rose across the country and thus several states including Karnataka decided to promote PU students.
Bhumika, a student from Ganagvathi had rejected the government’s offer to promote PU students and decided to attend the written examination. When the results were announced she was declared failed as she got only 04 marks.
Bhumika had actually scored 40 but due to an error by the department, her mark was shown as 04.
After failing the examination the said student was so stressed that she gave up on her food for a few days.
Bhoomika’s parents have now been furious and lashed at the Karnataka PU board for making such errors and playing with student’s life.
