Family suspects foul play in youth’s drowning in Netravati river

Bantwal: Questions have been raised about the death of a youth from Belthangady in the Netravati River near Shamboor Sri Shanmukh Subrahmanya Temple on the evening of March 18.
Following a complaint by the family of the deceased, the police have launched an investigation into the incident.
The deceased, identified as Lohitashwa (30) and a resident of Manjotti in Nada village, was accompanied by four companions in a car when they arrived at the banks of the Netravati River in Shamboor.
However, after a while, Lohitashwa’s lifeless body was found in the water, still dressed and wearing a wristwatch. The death was claimed to be a case of drowning.
However, Lohitashwa’s family has raised suspicions about the cause of the death. Sandeep, a resident of Kaliya village and Lohitashwa’s brother-in-law, has voiced concerns about the circumstances surrounding his demise. Consequently, the police have registered a case and initiated an inquiry to determine the true cause of death.
