Father arrested for infanticide

Mangaluru: The police have arrested a man for allegedly murdering his daughter on Wednesday 29th. The crime came to light after the finding of the corpse of the infant n the bank of Netravati River.

The accused is identified as Laman Temminala, who was residing at MFAR labour colony at Bolar and has been arrested for murdering his 8-month-old daughter Mounashree.

Laman and his wife hailing from Koppala are construction workers and have been staying at the colony since the last 15 days.

Roopa had filed a complaint with the police after the corpse of her daughter was found on the rover bank on May 27th. Since, Laxman was the last person to be in contact with the infant, he was thoroughly grilled by the cops.

Motive and murder

Police have informed that the accused has admitted his crime. Interrogation revealed that Laxman already had two daughters and since the third child also turned out to be a girl, he felt disappointed. Out of contempt for the baby girl, he planned to kill her, and accordingly sent his wife out on the pretext of some work. He then murdered the helpless infant through strangulation and disposed the corpse into the river.

The arrest of the accused and the truth was revealed through an operation conducted on the directions of police commissioner Sandeep Patil, DCPs Hanumantharaya and Laxmi Ganesh, by Pandeshwar police inspector N Kumar Aradhya under the guidance of Mangaluru central sub-divisional ACP Sudheer Hegde. Pandeshwar SI Rajendra B, L Manjula with the participation of other police personnel.
