Bengaluru: In a shocking incident of animal cruelty, four security guards tormented a puppy to death, after it tried to take shelter from rain in an apartment complex in Bengaluru.

The four were booked by the HSR Layout Police, after the occupants of Purva Fairmount flat lodged a FIR requesting strict action against them for the heinous act.

The episode had occurred on July 1, when a five-month-old puppy tried to take shelter in Purva Fairmount apartment because of heavy downpours. But, the security guard named Amar got the little puppy and along with three other security guards, put the puppy in a gunny sack. The puppy was beaten with sticks and hit with stones till it died.

A few occupants who saw the cruel act complained to the police and the CCTV footage was used as evidence.

The four are booked under Sections 428 and 429 of the Indian Penal Code (mischief by killing or maiming animal).
