Funds to be released soon for Pachanady victims

Mangaluru: “It is nearly 60 days since the garbage-slip happened. I will submit a report about the condition here to the Chief Minister. I will impress upon him the need for immediate release of funds for the relief work,” said Health and Family Welfare Minister B. Sriramulu on Friday and added that arrangements are being made to provide regular health check-up by setting up a health centre in the area.
Mr Sriramalu visited the affected area and the residents took him to some of the 27 affected houses. A resident of the area also a victim of the incident said that they wanted the government to release adequate compensation to all the 27 families affected by the garbage-slip.
Some of the residents demanded that they be provided compensation for the loss of their agricultural land and produce and be provided permanent accommodation elsewhere, other who wanted to return back to Mandara sought proper road and other facilities. Besides, the residents demanded action against officials responsible for the incident.
