Gold concealed in Horlicks jar seized at Mangaluru International airport

Customs officials at Mangaluru International Airport apprehended a Dubai returnee and seized 179 grams of gold, valued at Rs 11,16,960 from his possession.

Based on spot profiling, the customs sleuths intercepted the passenger, a Kasargod resident who had arrived in Mangaluru from Dubai on Air India Express Flight IX 814 on January 30.

Upon examination of his baggage, it was found that he had concealed gold in paste form in four corrugated sheets which were wrapped in two bedsheets and two pillow covers, and gold in powder form also concealed in Horlicks jar.
