Gold smuggling bid foiled at M’luru airport

Mangaluru: Acting on credible information, customs officials at Mangaluru International Airport intercepted two passengers smuggling around 238 grams (net weight) gold valued at Rs 11,00,946.
The passengers — Kasim Ibrahim Kolad from Gujarat and Mohammed Bashar Ruknuddin from Bhatkal — had arrived via Indigo flight from Dubai on March 4.
They were found to be smuggling gold by concealing them as gold foils pasted to the bottom of the makeup foundation boxes and plastering gold powder pouches in the armpits.
The team was led by Dr.Kapil Gade I.R.S Deputy Commissioner and comprising of Bikram Superintendent, Chandra Mohan Meena Superintendent and Sandeep Inspector
