Gold worth Rs 13 lac seized from pssngr at MIA

Mangaluru: Customs officials at Mangalore International Airport apprehended a Dubai returnee and seized 262 grams gold of 24k purity from his possession.
Based on intelligence and profiling of passengers, the officials intercepted Siddiqua Miqdam Hussain, aged 27 years, a native of Bhatkal who had arrived by Air India flight IX 384 on May 28.
On personal search and questioning, the said passenger was found to have concealed gold in paste form in his rectum.
The seized gold is valued at around Rs 13,17,860.
Air Customs team was lead by Praveen Kandi IRS, Deputy Commissioner and other officers Rakesh Kumar, Superintendent, Satish Kumar, Superintendent, Sandeep, Inspector and others took active part in the interception.
