Mangaluru: A viral video of green and white flags, symbolizing the Muslims and Christians respectively, fluttering alongside saffron flags in Tiruvail (ward no 20) to celebrate the victory of BJP candidate in MCC elections just reaffirms our belief in unity in diversity.
Hemalatha Raghu Salian of the BJP, a party largely known for its Hindutva ideology defeated Congress’ Pratibha Rajkumar Shetty with a huge margin in the City Corporation elections, results of which were announced yesterday (November 14).
The response for Hemalatha’s victory caught everyone’s attention as the minority communities generally do not endorse the Hindutva stance of the saffron party but not only did they support her candidature, they also came together to celebrate the victory of the BJP candidate shedding religious differences.
