Madikeri: Heavy rains continued on Wednesday night here, while rains diminished in different parts of the state. In the Charmadi ghats, tasks to clear the gigantic amount of mud, garbage and trees after the landslide was on. The Charmadi ghats will stay shut for vehicular movement till tonight (June 14).

More mud slipped off the slopes at couple of different places on Tuesday night. Besides, the unending rains have rendered the task of clearing the debris difficult for the authorities. The rain was non stop even in Kodagu and the Karnataka-Kerala road was shut because of the landslide.

A 27 years old lorry cleaner from Kerala, Sharath Kumar succumbed to his injuries which he sustained when mud crashed while he was clearing a tree at Hanuman Pare along the Konanoor-Makutta interstate highway. An alternative road has been accommodated vehicles going to Kerala via Kutta.

A slope collapsed along the Honnavar-Tumakur-Bengaluru National Highway close Joginamutt of Siddapur taluk in the Uttara Kannada district because of which vehicular movement was stopped for five hours.
