Hunsur: In a tragic turn of events, two young lovers, who had left home about in September last year, were found hanging at Singaramaranahalli here on February 23.

Rakesh (24), son of Vijayakumar from Singaramaranahalli in Bilikere was in love with Archana (17), the daughter of Kumar of the same village. However, their families were opposed to their relationship.

In September last year, they eloped without informing their families. Kumar lodged Archana’s missing complaint at the Bilikere Police Station on September 23, 2021, and about a week later, on September  29, Vijaykumar also filed a missing complaint of his son.

They remained untraceable ever since, but on February 22, the couple suddenly came back to the village and hanged themselves from a jackfruit tree on the outskirts of the village, sources said.

Bilikere police visited the spot and are investigating the deaths.
